Gah! I feel like I have been neglecting my blog <sniff, sniff>.

Well, as previously mentioned, we (the husband and I) are busy with moving preparations. I have been squeezing in a little creative time, though. For instance, the other night I was working on a rain-inspired piece, while listening to “Rain is Falling” (ELO), as it was pouring outside.

My response was to stare blankly for a minute, with my mouth open. And laugh at the craziness of that coincidence.

Also, I worked on another piece prior to the rain one:

The title “Leaf S’plosion” comes to mind, but only because I was in a goofy mood when I thought of it. I wanted to play around with color, pattern, and using found texture. I like the feel of it- I think I will keep exploring this way of working.

Now that we’re moving, I thought it would be a good time to move my blog, also. I have a portfolio site (www.sarahpo.com). As you can see by visiting, it is not yet complete. But, it will be the new home for my blog.

I’ll be sure to stay in touch with the blogs I follow and my awesome followers on the new one. Hopefully, I’ll be able to transfer this one to it; we’ll see how that goes.

Anywho, I will keep you all updated on that. Thank you so much for taking an interest in my work. It really means a lot to me. It can be a lonely, weird situation, making art in a little studio by yourself. The feedback and support from the blogosphere is wonderful! :)

Bye for now,

Sarah

Here’s another one:

I wanted something fresh and pretty for my wall. I am going to be moving out of state in the next month (yowza!). It’s got me thinking about my new apartment, studio space, etc. – and how to make it awesome.

I am such a nerd- I’ve already started sketching out the layout, based on the floorplan I got from my new landlord. I just love thinking about it!

I’ve been working on a couple new pieces this week. Here’s one of them:

This squirrel is so cute, I wish he was my friend. We could talk about the weather, the status of acorns, neighborhood dogs, and kite flying . . .

I’ll have to share the other piece soon, hopefully next week sometime.

See you later!

♥, Sarah

My Simple Shoes { purple, blue, awesome }

This post is a bit bittersweet for me. I adore my Simple Shoes, but unfortunately, they are no longer making them. Which means, unless I can find a replacement pair on Zappos, I’ll have to patch mine up until they are absolutely kaput. So far they are holding up well – hopefully I can make them last.

I made a little Easter card, which is available as a free download! You can use it as a place card, note card, or tuck it in your Easter baskets.

I recommend printing on a good card stock while using the matte photo settings on your printer. (Also, the download doesn’t include “To: Michael, From: Abbie.” That middle section is blank, so you can fill in your own names or messages.)

Please note, this download is for personal use only.

The download is available here:

Thank you, I hope you enjoy it! And Happy Easter :)

Mike and I recently saw the Descendants (it’s as great as you’ve heard, in my opinion). That spurred this latest drawing:

illustration of three sandpipers in the ocean

Sandpipers! They are out looking for something tasty. I’ve also fallen in love with the soundtrack. Must purchase…

because I am now the recipient of a very bright, very shiny award:

Mrs. Sparkly’s Ten Commandments Award

Thank you to winloseordraw for selecting me and my little blog!

Now, on with the show:

“I am certain that Mrs. Sparkly, a woman of high expectations, commitment and integrity would agree with this approach. She is notable, respected in her own community and likely to be peering down upon us; possibly spell checking and taking notes that feed into a mammoth government information data collection system (MGIDCS). She may have been recruited because of her discretion and integrity even behind closed doors.

The rules of engagement are:

Ten Questions must be answered with complete honesty or Mrs. Sparkly will find you. Mrs. Sparkly – we love you. We Do! Manners and behaviour, words beyond reproach … Then tag five other people.”

The Ten Commandments

1. Describe yourself in seven words.

Me = mellow artist who married a writer. :)

2.  What keeps you up at night?

New creative ideas.

3. Whom would you like to be?

I’m pretty happy with being myself. I know that who I am changes all the time, and that has been a fun journey for me so far. (For instance, I used to not really exercise. Not so, anymore. Victory!)

4. What are you wearing now?

A pretty sundress in a kind of coral color. It’s a hand-me-down from my mom…but it is an awesome dress! Also, my glasses, my wedding ring, and about fourteen band-aids. (I tripped while running and scraped myself up pretty bad. Luckily I don’t injure myself that often.)

5. What scares you?

I would say, I’m afraid of frittering my life away on things that don’t matter. So, I try to spend as much time with loved ones as I can, and focus on activities that bring me joy and meaning.

6. What are the best and worst things about e-logging?

Best: Sharing myself with others, and forming a connection.

Worst: How much time it can gobble up, unexpectedly.

7. What was the last website you looked at?

My email account. (Sorry…pretty boring, though I do my share of web surfing.)

8. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

It would be to relax and be OK with making mistakes. I can get too caught up in making something perfect, and that is a shame… because we all know nothing is perfect.

9. Slankets, yes or no?

Well, I am humored by this name and product, but I’m going to have to say no. They’re ridiculous. I mean…they make you look like a giant infant!

10. Tell us something about the person(s) who tagged you.

The blogger behind winloseordraw is an art student, fond of tea, biscuits, and drawing. I am a former art student, but still love tea, biscuits (or, I assume cookies here in the USA) and drawing! Check out the blog, there is fun art on there! Also, the writer recently finished a dissertation. Congrats!

It’s been so warm out, lately…I feel like my life has been fast-forwarded to May. With that feeling in mind, I’ve been working on a new piece:

It needs a bit of editing, but is nearing completion. I am finishing these pieces, I swear! :)

I also experimented with making some stickers today. I’m pretty excited about the results…I hope to share with you soon!
